With the recommendation of the coaching staff, skiers the age of 7 may participate in the Junior V Program.
*Fees are for Coaching and Training only, and assume that the participant has a Season Pass to the lifts at Toggenburg. Family fee of $125 due with coaching fees.
Training will normally be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:30 PM-8:30 PM and on Saturday 9:00 AM -1:00 PM, except those days when the Toggenburg Team members are participating in races, which are usually on Sundays.
Jr III,II,& I's will have an extra training day on Fridays, 4-6PM.

 

Fall Training 

Every Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, starting the first Sunday in October. The fee is $50 and may be applied to the program fees if they wish to continue their participation.

Racers Christmas Camp 

A Christmas Training Camp will be held during the Christmas vacation period. Anyone new to the program or to ski racing who wishes to participate may pay a fee of $100 which will be applied to the program fees if they wish to continue to participate in the program. Registered, paid racers are at no charge. Christmas Camp is not open to Gatebusters.

Training Schedule

All race programs begin on Saturday, January 5th and continue for seven consecutive Saturdays from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM with a lunch break 11:00-11:45 AM. Junior Racers continue training all Ski Season.

Membership in the Ski Race Organizations 

In order to compete, ALL RACERS, except Gatebusters, must be members of NYSSRA and USSA. Racers 13 or older: USSA Membership/Competitors License. Racers 12 or younger USSA Youth Ski League Membership.

  Statement of Philosophy
The purpose of the Toggenburg Racing Association is to provide opportunities for its members to develop and refine their skills and knowledge through proper conditioning, training and competition. Ski racing is a vehicle to help young skiers enjoy balanced personal growth and develop specific skills which will enhance not only their skiing ability, but benefit all areas of their lives. Some of these skills and abilities include:
  • Mental and physical discipline
  • Sportsmanship
  • Sound knowledge of skiing technique
  • Setting reasonable, obtainable goals
  • Adapt to different environments/situations
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Good manners and social principles
  • Sound work ethic, self motivation

In order to facilitate this growth and development, the training and competition program is organized with the intent to provide the following:

  • Quality coaching for young athletes
  • Instruction in proper skiing technique
  • Environment conducive to effective training
  • Focus on cost-effectiveness of sponsored activities
  • Promotion of self-motivation and creativity in the athletes
  • Efforts to keep training activities interesting and enjoyable
  • Enhancement of self-esteem
